This is the New Google Page just as it loads, without any links except search box..... As I moved my mouse all the other stuff like images, google account on top left and right corners and links at the bottom faded in...

Google released a new version of it's classic homepage. The main feature of the new homepage is that it "fades in" — when the page first loads, it shows only Google logo, the search box and the buttons.Google Blog says "For the vast majority of people who come to the Google homepage, they are coming in order to search, and this clean, minimalist approach gives them just what they are looking for first and foremost".

Does it mean all the other links like image search,login/logout are removed? No - absolutely not-- Google Bolg further adds "For those users who are interested in using a different application like Gmail, Google Image Search or advertising programs, the additional links on the homepage only reveal themselves when the user moves the mouse. Since most users who are interested in clicking over to a different application generally do move the mouse when they arrive, the "fade in" is an elegant solution that provides options to those who want them, but removes distractions for the user intent on searching."

But the change is really not so strikingly visible, but it really looks aesthetic. Generally I have a habit of clicking in  the search box before typing anything for searching (which I think many visitors do), for that if I just move my mouse over, then all the old stuff fades in and doesn't out  But if you just type in as and when the page loads, then u can see it and you can carry on with your search with minimal distraction . Why not try a search at www.google.com and see if you can manage a search, without the "other" stuff fading in ?

Generally now a days whoever uses browsers like firefox, chrome, opera rarely type in google.com to search, they just either use the address bar or the search box just beside the address box. Any how it is a good change. I also heard google is in plan of removing "I'm feeling lucky and Google and  Search button" which may also appear with the fade-in effect when one moves the mouse.. I suggest why not remove the logo also which will also appear with the "fade-in" , I am just kidding ...
