A small Video from Google's Official Blog about Youtube Direct

In the digital era, where cameras have become a house hold thing , many people are now capable of covering breaking news. So the way we are watching news is changing day by day. We can experience it in elections, natural disasters, human disasters. Almost any event happens in todays world has a chance of getting coverd up. To take this a step further Google has came up with "youtube direct" ...

In google's official Blog Says "As YouTube has become a global platform for sharing the news, media organizations have been looking for a good way to connect directly with citizen reporters on our site so they can broadcast this footage and bring it to a larger audience."

YouTube Direct, is a new tool that allows media organizations to request, review and rebroadcast YouTube clips directly from YouTube users. Built from Google Open Source APIs, this open source application lets media organizations enable customized versions of YouTube's upload platform on their own websites. Users can upload videos directly into this application, which also enables the hosting organization to easily review video submissions and select the best ones to broadcast on-air and on their websites. As always, these videos also live on YouTube, so users can reach their own audience while also getting broader exposure and editorial validation for the videos they create.

The new service was beta-tested by the Huffington Post and will be used by National Public Radio and the San Francisco Chronicle, among others. It offers an interface that is deeply integrated into the news organisations' sites, and makes the communciation between user and media organisation much more direct. The hope is that this will make fact checking – where videos came from, when they were made – much easier.

And by the way I am also planning to Include the API on this website, so that visitors can upload some cool videos. Please do drop your feedback
