The List of Browsers is adding on. Gone are the old hey days of Internet Explorer(but it still continues to be the top browser)- many new browsers added up like Firefox,opera, Chrome,Safari.. Now the Chrome is Creating Ripples in the Browser market by trying hard to snatch the third place from Apple's Safari... Below pie chart (source:http://marketshare.hitslink.com/) shows the percentage of various browsers..
The Percentages again reiterated below :
- Internet Explorer (67.68%)
- Mozilla Firefox (22.47%)
- Safari (4.07%)
- Google Chrome (2.59%)
- Opera (1.97%)
- Other (1.22%)
This is based on the data of US based Net Applications. The percentages may vary up and down. There are many underestimations and limitations in it... but one thing is sure Firefox is really picking up. People who have minimum knowledge of computers are switching to other browsers mostly open source ones(leaving the the good old IE -- Yaack
).. and Opera the most coolest browser(according to me the author
) is almost stable around 1 - 2 % .
For example in India Google used the popularity of it's orkut social networking site and added certain cool features which best work with Chrome only and by campaigning on Orkut , it captured a good share of browser market in India.
