SEO plays a prominent role in drawing traffice to your website
Now a days making a website is pretty simple. There are number of hosting options available now a days which are pretty cheap. Keeping all this aside - the million dollar question is " How to Get Traffic" ? Question is simple but the answer is not so simple. You might be having the most unique content on your website with the most dazzling graphics - but how many visitors it is attracting? The biggest source of traffic for any website are "Search Engines". These search engines like google, yahoo keep on roaming the world wide web indexing all the webpages they have found and they present these details to the searching visitor - and for each search word or rather keyword there will be thousand of pages and which will stand in the top 10 of the search results are the real winners. To get in to the top 10 - a great content is not the only requirement. You should also make your website search engine friendly. For this there are some set rules having a descriptive title for every page, having good meta tags, having simple Urls..This is all called Search Engine optimization (SEO) .

For all those who are new to this SEO and don't have the budget to hire some SEO services can have a look at the startup SEO guide google has released . This guide is little old. But the basic principles are pretty same. This guide (according to google) covers around a dozen common areas that webmasters might consider optimizing. These areas (like improving title and description meta tags, URL structure, site navigation, content creation, anchor text, and more) would apply to webmasters of all experience levels and sites of all sizes and types. Throughout the guide, many illustrations, pitfalls to avoid, and links to other resources that help expand the explanation of the topics are provided .

Btw everything was said and done.. where is the guide now :x ? Oh sorry .. here it is -> Search Engine Optimization Starter Guide( for downloading Right Click and Select "Save Link As.." or "Save Target Content As.." ) - This is a PDF.
