The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Millennium
Campaign launched a new advertisement featuring football legend Zinédine Zidane encouraging governments and citizens to reach the 8 Millennium
Development Goals by 2015.
The ad is being released to mark the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty as well as the three days of mobilization organized by the
Stand-Up Campaign, 16-18 October 2009. The text of the ad is below:
WILLPOWER, COMMITMENT, TEAMWORK
Zinédine Zidane has always set himself ambitious goals which, at the time, seemed unrealistic. However, one World Cup, one Golden Ball award and one European championship later, he has reached his goals thanks to his willpower, commitment and sense of teamwork.
Lifting 1.4 billion people from extreme poverty by 2015 and assuring each and everyone access to education and health are the new challenges that Zinédine intends to take up by encouraging governments and citizens to achieve the 8 Millennium Development Goals.
As a UNDP Goodwill Ambassador, Zinédine Zidane encourages you to join his team and take action against poverty now.
