What I am doing in the Lock down?
Covid 19 has brought the world to stand still limiting all people to their sweet homes. The way world functions has got a jolt because of the Covid-19. So here in a brief what I had been doing in this Covid 19 imposed lock down.
Many a times we (atleast I) complain about not having enough time to do what we want. Because of Covid -19 lock down we do get some time. We can say even though we are sitting at home, we are working from home. Even then we save some time which would otherwise might have gone in travel, meetings etc.
Coming to the point, this is how I have been spending the lock down days -
- Sleep time - approx 8 to 9 hrs per day ( 0100 to 0900)
- Food and other daily activities - 2 hrs per day
- Work ( Office project, work etc.) - 6 to 7 hrs per day
- Family time including baby time - 2 to 3 hrs per day
- Phones - One to two hours
- Surya namskarams in the morning - 30 minutes in the morning
- Ab exercises and other in the evening - one hour in the evening (effective time utilized will be less than 30 minutes)
- Nethi - 30 minutes in the morning (not everyday)
- Reading books - 30 minutes (rarely 1 hour)
- Miscellaneous - Day dreaming/ useless stuff / mindless surfing - 1 hour to 2 hours (sometimes much more)
- Giving Tips to wife regarding future planning/ investments - rarely 30 minutes or discussion with wife (not dispute please ) - may be one hour
- Cooking trials
From the above, stuff which would help in self enrichment are the physical exerices which I would like to write few more details.
Surya Namaskarams and Nethi
Whatever may be the time I woke up during this lock down - I made it a point to do Surya Namaskrams. After few days of doing Surya Namaskarams, I find it to be beneficial. Early I used to think surya namaskarams as mild exercise and never took it seriously. Once I started doing consistently - I found it to be very effective. Moreover I am now reaching 35 years of age and rigorous exercises are out of sight. I try to do 25 sets of Surya Namskarams. With an average time taken of 40 seconds per set - it takes less than 20 minutes.
If you are like me - who is interested in doing something rather than nothing- can add Surya Namskarams to your daily menu. A simple search on Youtube will give you many videos. I follow the following videos -
In addition I try to do Nethi every alternate day. Nethi was also advised by Ayush for good nasal health.
Exercises for Abs
Few years I used to spend some time in Gym to build muscles. Now I am out of that phase and not keen in building muscles - but interested in reducing the tummy. Not dreaming of six pack abs , but averse to family pack. So whatever little I could do - I want to focus on abs. I follow these two -
- Static Cycling - I have an exercise cycle (Air Bike) which I purchased long back for around Rs.6500/- . I do around 20 minutes to 25 minutes of cycling on it everyday. You
- 8 Minute abs video on Youtube - I find this is to be short and effective. Initially I had difficulty in doing, but slowly I am able to improve.
- I have a small rope gym gadget - which I purchased long back. It gives me a feeling of doing something. Following video in Hindi shows how to use. It is a simple device. With use of it, I am atleast able to do few exercises which I otherwise would have procastinated. ( I am not advocating to buy it.. Any how in lock down you cannot buy. This shoul be available in sports shops for around 300 Rs) .
There goes - what I am able to manage. What I want further to do -
- Reading books more
- Do more rigourous exercises
- Do meditation
- Do long time life planning and financial planning
