How Big Is It?

One sudden day I thought how much data Google handles. And any question I get, the solution is to Google out. I tried the same and got to know of some astonishing facts. The First thing I got to know is that google handles 20 petabytes of data on an average each day. Peta Byte? 

An Old Mathematical Story

You might have heard a story of this Chess board. Once a high knowledged person defeated a King at chess. So King asked him to tell his wishlist  . Then the person asked "one gold coin(grain) in first check box of the chess board and then twice of it in second and then twice of the second in third... means double that of in the preceding cell.. "The king thought that it would some meager quantity of grain. After some time the treasures came to king saying that such amount of grain will cover the whole earth with some Meters of thickness. The King was astonished. The Quantity was roughly 2⁶⁴ . The quantity of data is no less it is 2⁵⁵ per day. That is google.

 Data Centers

 

So where all this huge data is stored. At data centers. Google has data centers across the globe. They are with tight locked security.But where are all of these data centers and how many are there? Google doesn’t really say. But that doesn’t keep people from trying to figure it out. There are wide speculations on internet about their where abouts. They are generally more in North because the temperature is suitable for all the computer hardware.

But it seems that there are 36 data centers in all—19 in the U.S., 12 in Europe, 3 in Asia, and one each in Russia and South America. Future data center sites may include Taiwan, Malaysia, Lithuania, and Blythewood, South Carolina, where Google has reportedly bought 466 acres of land.

Any way all these are speculations... But handling such an huge amount of Data is no easy.
