INDIAN SPACE RESEARCH SATELLITES
Cartosat-2
Cartosat-2 is the twelfth in the Indian Remote Sensing (IRS) satellite series and is an advanced remote sensing satellite capable of providing scene-specific spot imagery. Cartosat-2 was launched on January 10, 2007 and carries a single panchromatic camera onboard capable of providing better than 1-metre spatial resolution imagery, with a swath of 9.6 km.The satellite can be steered up to +/-45 deg along and +/- 26 deg across the track to facilitate imaging of any area more frequently.
Cartosat-2 satellite has been functioning well, providing operational services to the user community. The data from the satellite is being used for cartographic applications at cadastral level, urban and rural infrastructure development and management, as well as applications in Land Information System (LIS).
